Film Critique

I think the movie overall was good. Usually animated films are cheesy and immature, and so was this one, but it was in a good way. I don't often enjoy movies like this, but this one was written in a way that people of all ages could enjoy. The plot was good and well executed, and it wasn't too fast or predictable.
The quality of the movie was good. The visual aspect was great, where it could be incredibly realistic, yet still have that cartoon-esque feel too it. The theme was that you should always stick together, and that sometimes you have to believe your dad when he tells you about little people.
The weaknesses were sometimes it was a little too cheesy, and they didn't execute some of the scenes the best they could have, but overall there was a lot more good than bad.
                     10/10 would watch again

1st Quarter test

1st quarter test
Haunted house

This was the hardest project we've done so far, it made the custom car seem easy to me. All of the projects so far led up to this one, and all of the techniques that I learned with them helped me complete this one.
I didn't really have much of a story behind this for inspiration, other than its a creepy house on a farm. the original house looked like one that was in a video game I played, so loosely based it on that, which is where I got the farm idea from.
I tried my best with the lighting effects, but its difficult. I could have added a shadow behind the house, and maybe did the moon a little better. The pickup truck sticks it a little, a darker and more faded color might have worked out better.
I used pictures that were given to us on schoology, except for the birds, the pickup truck, and the stain on the ground.

The house on the farm

I would pass the old farm on the way home from school every day. I haven't seen it in use durin my lifetime at all. No animals in the fields, no tractors plowing crops, there's a truck there but it doesn't look like it's had much use in a long time. Most people would assume that it would be abandoned, and I would too. There's no activity or sign of life in the house or around it.
Except the light in the window comes on every night...

Custom Car Project

This project was definitely the most challenging to me by far, mostly because of the coloring. Doing it almost entirely freehand was one of the most tedious and frustrating things I've done in a long time, and getting everything to blend together perfectly is seemingly impossible. Though, it did teach me a lot more techniques and more about coloring and putting images together then I knew before it, and if I had more skill I could have had a better final product, but i think its alright the way it is.

I made the text "blinged" out with a radical cool text effect I learned this week which is basically just using bevel and pattern overlays and then some brushes and other effects to make it look nice, which helped make it look extra swaggy, along with the swag snapback on the S. I added in some groovy lemons to emphasize our lemony flavor,(What the L stands for), and then to make everyone aware of the fact that we're extra-terrestrial aliens I added in a ufo, hovering over the text. The hardest part about this project would definitely be the text, it took a while to get it to look right.

Comic Strip

Comic Strip

This project taught me a lot more about photoshop then I previously knew.  I learned some new tools, such as the save selection tool. That could be used for really useful purposes later, such as if I have the same image in different spots and need to take out the same thing, i wont need to select it twice. I learned about coloring images, and I worked on memorizing hot-keys, and I work a lot faster then I used to.
I used the brush tool differently because now I'm using color, before was for texture or for masking things. The article helped me with some techniques and just some basic information about making a comic strip, which helped me finish it.

Collage

Animals, Initials, Masking, & Textures

I chose to make a Moose as my animal because It seemed like it would be a good idea with the letters I had. I turned the Z sideways, making it look like an "N" for the body and legs. Then I used a "D" for the head, and the "M" I turned upside-down and put on top of the "D" as antlers. I added fur to make it look real, and I used a moose fur picture from google.
